What is your story?

I’ve struggled with my weight my entire life. I used to try weight watchers as a kid to no avail, and my interest in sports I had in Junior high died as soon as I figured out hard work was involved. I graduated, became an adult, and sort of lost control. After a nasty breakup, getting laid off from a job, and way too much partying, I found myself at 350lbs.

I got tired of looking in the mirror, and decided to start running with the couch to 5k program since I had so much spare time. I found that I liked running, so I stuck with it. Ran a few 5ks, started eating less calories of the bad food (didn’t really know how to eat correctly at this time, so I was a big boy trying to stick to a 1500 calorie diet, not fun), and I had lost quite a bit of weight. I had lost weight, but I wasn’t exactly stoked on how my body looked. I weighed less, but I had no muscle at all. I eventually grew tired of running as my only means of exercise, so I started to look at branching out. I moved to Stephenville and tried starting to lift weights a little bit. I tried strong lifts 5X5 and that was fun, but it was hard to get myself motivated to keep consistent by myself, so I wasn’t seeing the strength gains.

I heard about Crossfit and I decided to check it out, so I googled it and found there was a gym in Stephenville. I showed up one Saturday and Chris was invested in helping me get better from the beginning. I thought it was awesome to have guidance and have someone around who knew what they were doing. I did the trial week and after that and was hooked. I found myself looking forward to the gym. My 3 days a week went to 5 days a week and I started noticing changes. I was gaining muscle and getting stronger. We did a 3 month challenge and I learned more about cleaning up my diet and I ended up where I am today.

I’m pretty close to 100lbs total lost, I’m stronger than I ever have been, and my confidence is at an all time high. When I got here, I couldn’t power clean 95lbs and today I put 200lbs over my head. Crossfit works, plain and simple. I’ve still got some way to go before I get to my goal weight, but I know Crossfit will get me there. You cannot fail with the excellent coaches, programming, and the community behind you. I’ve done more than I ever thought I’d be able to. I’ve placed second in a Crossfit competition, I completed in the Crossfit open, and I’ve completed all three lengths of the spartan race. I’m faster than I was when I was running all the time, and my strength numbers are so much more than before Crossfit. If you stick with it, and put in the work, you will achieve your goals and so much more
